10.000 m²
12 Months
OEZ Munich
The Olympic shopping centre on Hanauer Straße in Munich Moosach, built at the time of the 1972 Summer Olympics, was given a new contemporary look with a complete mall refurbishment covering approx. 10,000 m² in order to sustainably increase its attractiveness for customers and tenants, improve the quality of stay in the centre and thus increase the time customers spend there. For example, the main entrance on Hanauer Straße was given a new look and a modern “entrée” with an expanded metal façade, wall and column cladding, new flooring and new lighting fixtures.
As part of this modernisation, the centre was given a new look.
In the course of this modernisation, different design concepts were implemented in the shopping street and the adjacent centre entrances to match the various centre shops by replacing the floors, ceiling, wall and column cladding and new lighting systems. Furthermore, additional seating areas, lounges and rest areas with a living room atmosphere were created, which, in keeping with the times, do not lack connection possibilities for mobile phone charging. Furthermore, the customer WC facilities, the
changing room and the customer information desk have been redesigned and a new colourful children’s play area has been built. In addition to the elaborate special lighting, the exclusive mouldings are also a highlight in the ceiling design. The renovations were carried out during ongoing sales operations and the coordination of the noise-intensive work in particular was additionally complicated by the two high-rise complexes above the centre.
