A room within a room – box systems for the office are in vogue

Open-plan offices in particular benefit from the design idea of simply using small enclosed cubes to create meeting rooms or workplaces. The advantages are obvious, and implementation is extremely simple.

An idea that is not new, but has never been so easy to turn into reality. The creation of different workstations in one large workplace. The scenario is classic and requires individual solutions. Many open-plan offices have a cluttered area where many workstations are spread out. This is very practical for working together, because it is a great way to exchange ideas with colleagues. However, it becomes more difficult when it comes to creating a quiet working atmosphere in order to work in a concentrated manner without external disturbances. Meetings are also a sensitive issue, because they often involve confidential topics that are not meant for all ears. What is needed are at least small retreats in the grand scheme of things.

Cube Box systems fit any workstation

So-called cubes form these enclosed spaces and they have many advantages. The small cubes are well insulated, so conversations remain in the cube and content does not leak out. In addition, they create a quiet overall atmosphere so that colleagues can work in peace when needed and are not disturbed by general room noise. Up to now, there have been different approaches to implement the solutions of the small rooms in the large room in a meaningful way. Most of the time it was connected with great reconstruction efforts by drawing in additional walls and their insulation. Sometimes the plans failed not only because of money and effort. In some halls, it was simply not possible to place walls due to the structural specifications.

Individual solutions for every need

Problems that are now a thing of the past, thanks to the new cubes. They are now available from various suppliers and have one thing in common: they offer an individually designable solution for every need and do not have to be oriented to structural specifications. Redesigning a workspace couldn’t be more flexible. There are already many different Cubes. Many can be installed completely independently of the building and impress not only with their cool appearance but also with their positive acoustic properties. Some even use a new technology to regulate the air inside the cube so that no “thick air” can develop in the first place. Negative ions are used to kill fine dust, bacteria, pollen and viruses in the air. This increases the well-being in the cube enormously.

The combination of large floor-to-ceiling windows and wood paneling makes it possible to perceive the airy space not as oppressive, but as thoroughly open to the rest of the colleagues. At the same time, they immediately recognize that the Cube is occupied and I’ll have to come back at another time. Theoretically, of course, it is also possible to install several cubes in large buildings. These come with inventory, which is of course adapted to the needs and tastes of the buyer. Comfortable seating, built-in state-of-the-art screen technology for presentations, sofas or kitchens? The choice is difficult.

Cubes offer tranquility in the midst of hustle and bustle

It is also advertised that a Cube can be an oasis of calm in the middle of the hectic office. Here, the builders place particular emphasis on the fact that really no noise penetrates inside or, the other way around, from the inside to the outside. This creates space for creativity and inner serenity, even on stressful days. Relaxed thinking should be made possible by special sound insulation. In addition to the acoustic advantages, some Cubes are even barrier-free accessible, because they do not need their own floor. Lighting is also integrated, which also leaves no room for dark corners and glaring headlights. Everything is coordinated to create the perfect workplace, and all systems can of course be individually controlled.
