How managers can use human design for their own benefit

Human Design includes the personality types of people and can serve as a kind of basis to better assess the personality within the leadership position. Thereby all types have their merits, but must also know about their weaknesses.

Basically, Human Design can be understood as a science of experience, which forms a combination of ancient wisdom and scientific knowledge of modern times. The “ancient” wisdoms include the I Ching from the Book of Changes in Daoism, astrology, the chakra system from India and the Kabbalah from Judaism. Insights from quantum physics and genetics have also had an influence on shaping this science of experience. This is not a philosophical direction based on beliefs, but a fact-based doctrine whose basic features are seamlessly linked to scientific theories of modernity.

What is Human Design?

This already roughly explains where Human Design comes from. However, it does not really explain what is behind the term. And it is not much more than a character study. It is about naming five personality types and their very own characteristics. These five are called Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Reflector and Projector. In order to find out which personality type one is, different information is necessary. These include the month and year of birth, as well as the exact hour and minute of arrival. Depending on how the stars were positioned, conclusions can be drawn about the here and now. That is the actually exciting approach at the Human Design. It takes no experiences or events from the own past, from the childhood and youth with. It is based only on the dates of birth and the human being as an individual at the current time of his life.

Which type am I?

For future supervisors, it is already relevant when hiring new employees in a wide variety of positions within the company which personality type they are. It is exciting that the minimum number of employees are reflectors. They include a group of people that comprises only 1 percent of all people. Reflectors react like a mirror. They look at the reactions of their colleagues and mirror them. It suits this group of people to represent the company comprehensively. However, they are not doers themselves, do not like to lead and make conscious decisions. If such a decision is nevertheless pending, they should wait one lunar cycle (28 days) and only then make it finally. Whether the strategy can really be implemented in professional life remains questionable.

Manifestor and Generator in Human Design

The situation is different with manifestors. They are classic leaders and like to bring new ideas and projects to the table. They know how to motivate others, are full of drive and have a strong personality. At 9 percent, however, the proportion of born manifestors is rather modest, yet they make such good leaders. Generators make up a higher percentage, namely 36 percent. In contrast to the Manifestor, Generators do not pay attention to a well-dosed work-life balance. They prefer to work like little worker bees and focus all their energy on getting things done and bringing projects to a successful conclusion. For colleagues of other Human Design types, this can sometimes be exhausting, which is why Generators often have to slow down for the greater good. Both types together form the fourth Human Design Type: The Manifesting Generator. They are predominantly manifestors, but with a pronounced drive for action. 34 percent of all people belong to this type. Creativity and a wealth of ideas are among the strengths of the Manifesting Generator, as is the ability to get things done when the need arises. They thus combine both positive elements of the preceding personality types.

Being a projector

The last type is the projector. He is a born leader, because he knows how to manage his time and energy efficiently and likes to lead whole companies and employees with verve and overview. They can always trust him and appreciate his merits. When things need to move forward and projects not only need to be solved creatively, but also brought to a successful conclusion, the projector is right at the forefront. He has everything under control, keeps an overview and is not easily thrown off track. About 20 percent of all people belong to this type.

New Work brings with it many new ways and habits of working. It is also important to take into account the individual abilities and inabilities of employees, but above all how to deal with them as a manager. Human Design can help to better understand the individual.
